劉廷芳先生，是中國近代史上數一數二的心理學家、心理教育學家、漢學家、文學家、神學家、音樂家、詩人、牧師與中國基督徒團契領導人。他同時也是出類拔萃的翻譯家。滿腹經綸，博學多聞，集各類恩賜於一身。家喻戶曉的『平安夜』就是在五四運動時期由他譯成中文。其譯作多達130多首，為中國教會貢獻良多，在此提及的詩歌均出自其生花妙筆。劉廷芳的譯作不但保有原作文意，且因其高深的文學涵養，使詩歌別具神韻，絲毫不像翻譯，其文筆字字珠璣，鏗鏘有力，可圈可點，更勝原意！令人著實讚嘆上帝的知人善任！
在此與各位分享劉廷芳譯作兩首，包括原文與譯文。除原意外，聖誕節的真義也被完整譯出，唱來常使我淚流滿面，感動莫名！這也是我個人最為喜愛的兩首耶誕詩歌。
